My Little Petunia

Indoors with natural light - (L to R) OPI My Little Petunia, China Glaze Tart-y for the Party,
OPI Alpine Snow, China Glaze Happy Go Lucky & L'Oreal Canary.

It's going to be a bit pic-heavy today.

PANZ (Polish Addicts New Zealand) is a really lovely group of wonderful, supportive and truly inspirational ladies! I had the pleasure of meeting one of my new friends yesterday who furnished me with cupcakes....and a handful of OPI polishes!

It's a miserably cold day today so I really wanted to do something new and interesting. I had a play around with creating flowers with the dotting tools that I got from BornPrettyStore a while back. I'm sure the technique can be perfected, but I am pleased with the results and it kept me occupied!

The lovely, shiny, red-toned purple used is an OPI among a group that has caused minor drama in PANZ. The name on the bottom says OPI My Little Petunia...but funnily enough, if you do a quick search you won't find the collection or much information about the shade. We have since discovered that while it hasn't been confirmed, the best explanation is that some older and exclusive OPI shades have been re-released under different names. Don't quote me on this as absolute fact though, OPI have not confirmed this surmise. My Little Petunia is beautiful regardless!

Notes on the formula of My Little Petunia: It is THIN. Very sheer and if you drag the brush too much it will pull away the layers underneath. Nearly jelly-like. Not the easiest of formulas to use, but is opaque in the three coats you can see.

My accent nail started with five evenly spaced dots in a flower pattern with China Glaze Tart-y for the Party. I then did a round of smaller dots with OPI Alpine Snow. Finally, the centers were made using one dot of China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and a smaller overlay dot of L'Oreal Canary. The real focus here is the purple though :)

I love this purple so much. That beautiful red-toned shimmer makes it really glow - Year of the Radiant Orchid indeed! So much so, in fact, that I found other things the same tone....guess what my favourite colour is?

Indoors with Natural Lighting......and a whole lotta purple.
Indoors with Natural Lighting.....and even more purple!

For those ladies in New Zealand, OPI My Little Petunia and several of the other 'mystery' OPI polishes can be found in various Amcal chemists about Auckland - I'm unsure if they have been spotted elsewhere.
