piCture pOlish 'Lizzie'

First blog post. No pressure, right?

I have actually been meaning to do this for a while. I fancied myself as a writer when I was in High School, but they basically told me to forget it as an occupation and so I NEARLY did. So, it is with trepidation that I embark on a Nail Blog (among other things!) and you can take a look at Lizzie today!

I have really fallen in love with piCture pOlish. They are an indie polish company based in Australia and have the benefit of being approved Dangerous Goods shippers which mean they can ship polish nearly anywhere in the world. I cannot say enough good things about this brand. They provide top-notch customer service and polish is even better! I have a good couple of handfuls of bottles now and I haven't been disappointed once with drying time, formula or application.

I love how comprehensive their colour range is and that you can see an individual bottle shot and swatch of each colour - it really helps to take out the guess work when it comes to selection.

Anywho, I got a massive haul from piCture pOlish yesterday which is always fun because they always arrive the day after I order them! Benefits of living in New Zealand which is just across from Australia. The colours I purchased, which I will end up reviewing individually as I get to them were: Aurora, Gravity, Lizzie, Pirouette, Scarlett & Black.

Today I have the recently released homage to Jane Austen's Pride and Predjudice character Elizabeth Bennett:

Lizzie is a VERY sheer nearly-nude lilac scatter holo polish. It has, what I have come to understand, as the signature holo microflakies throughout as well as a fair amount of finer holographic pigment.

Formula was good, not too thin or thick, just very very sheer. The picture above shows four coats - yes, four and topped with Orly - Won't Chip topcoat. It was relatively opaque with three, but I've never been too much of a fan of my irregular shaped nail lines showing through. Interestingly the piCture pOlish website describes this shade as a "Scatter Holo" - I had a decent amount of linear holo on my nails as well which I was not expecting.

piCture pOlish Lizzie - Outdoors in Sun with a good amount of blurring to see the holo particles. Such sparkle. Many shine. Wow.

Application was very easy and I didn't find any unavoidable cuticle flooding or hard-to-remove particles during my minimal clean up.

Drying time was excellent. I used thinner coats and it only took a minute or so to dry enough to apply a second and the finishing coats.

piCture pOlish Lizzie - Outdoors in Sun complete with uneven application of Ruby Wing Rose on accent nail. Never again.

Accent nail was a bit of a fail really. I had a brain fade and instead of using OPI Alpine Snow to apply the white wedge on top of the lilac, I for some reason painted down the white first and attempted to paint the lilac around the edges of the striping tape used for the lines. Cannot even believe I forgot how to nail art properly....all kinds of bad decisions and mess happened. At the top of the wedge is a small silver star-shaped stud and the opalescent glitter used to top the wedge is Ruby Wing Rose from the Cupcake & Champagne Collection.

Either way, I am very pleased with this shade. It's an all-round good holo formula-wise which is nice because some holographic polishes can be shocking to apply - I'm looking at you China Glaze Hologlam Collection! I love that there is linear holo in this, even though it wasn't promised and even though I had to apply several coats to get maximum opacity....well, the sparkle pay off is enough to forget about that.

You can find this shade and other amazing ones at the official piCture pOlish website.

    1. It really is! I don't normally leave a colour on for more than a day or so. I don't intend to take it off in a hurry :)
